BR Specialists is taking the next step in its growth, with plans now progressing for a new European base in Malta.
For BRS, the move is about widening access to practical, real-world safety training while continuing to support the UK clients and sectors the company has worked with for many years.
The planned Malta base will also strengthen BRS’s ability to support organisations across Europe and the Middle East, building on existing international work with clients in locations including Abu Dhabi.

A European base for future growth
The new base is planned for Malta, with the St Paul’s Bay area identified as the location for the company’s European presence.
BRS is now moving through the legal and administrative process required to establish the operation, marking an important stage in the company’s wider growth plans.
The expansion will give BRS a stronger platform to support organisations outside the UK, particularly across Europe and the Middle East. This builds on the company’s existing experience delivering training for international clients, including work connected to Abu Dhabi.
For organisations where staff may face conflict, aggression, challenging behaviour or situations requiring physical intervention, the need for relevant and realistic training is essential. BRS’s approach has always been to adapt training to the people, setting and risks involved, rather than delivering a one-size-fits-all course.
That means looking closely at the environment, the role of staff, the people they support, and the types of incidents they may realistically face. A hospital ward, a care setting, a school, a public-facing workplace or an international organisation may all require training around safety and behaviour, but the delivery should never be generic.
Continuing to support UK clients
While the Malta base represents a significant step for BRS, the company’s commitment to UK clients remains central.
BRS will continue to deliver training across the UK for organisations in healthcare, care, education, transport, hospitality, events and other frontline settings. The new European base is designed to extend the company’s reach, not replace or reduce its UK work.
Existing clients can expect the same practical approach, the same focus on tailored delivery, and the same commitment to helping staff feel more confident and prepared in difficult situations.
Nick Attard, General Manager at BR Specialists, said:
“For us, this is about growth without losing what makes BRS different. We have always focused on delivering training that is relevant, realistic and built around the people in the room. The Malta base gives us a stronger platform to support more organisations across Europe and the Middle East, including clients in places such as Abu Dhabi, while continuing to support our clients across the UK.”
Taking real-world training further
A key part of the BRS approach is that training is built around real situations, not just theory.
The team understands that conflict, aggression and restraint do not happen in neat classroom conditions. They happen in live environments, often under pressure, where staff need to make quick decisions while protecting themselves, their colleagues and the people in their care.
That is why BRS places such importance on communication, prevention, de-escalation and proportionality, alongside practical physical skills where they are required.
The company provides specialist training in areas such as PMVA, breakaway, conflict management, physical intervention, restraint, de-escalation and behaviour awareness. Courses are shaped around the needs of each organisation, helping staff understand not only what to do, but why certain approaches matter.
The company’s training is also shaped by lived experience. This includes experience of managing violence and aggression from the staff side, as well as understanding restraint from the perspective of someone who has been a patient in mental health services.
That perspective helps BRS bring a more human, grounded view to training, particularly in sectors where dignity, safety and trust are all essential.
Building for the future
As the Malta base develops, BRS will be better placed to support international clients looking for specialist training around workplace safety, violence and aggression, behaviour awareness and physical intervention.
The move reflects the company’s long-term focus on growth, quality and practical training that meets the needs of each organisation, whether in the UK, Europe or the Middle East.
For BRS, this next step is not just about opening a new base. It is about building on more than three decades of experience and making its training available to a wider range of organisations.
The aim remains the same: helping staff feel more confident, better prepared and more able to keep themselves and others safe.
