At BR Specialists, we take pride in making sure our trainers are always learning too. It’s how we keep our courses real, relevant, and built around what people face every day in their workplaces. Whether that’s physical intervention, conflict management, or behaviour awareness, the skills we teach are only as strong as the people delivering them.
Recently, Jake and Charlie completed their Restraint Refresher Training and have been reaccredited as NFPS Level 3 Approved Restraint and Breakaway Instructors. This ensures every technique we teach continues to meet national standards and reflects the safest and most effective practice available.
As Jake put it,
“It’s good to step back into the learner’s role now and then. You notice small details you can refine or improve, and that keeps you sharp. The refresher reminded me why we do what we do – to give others the confidence to manage difficult situations safely and calmly.”
Their achievement sits alongside a new milestone for Nick and Jake, who have now completed NFPS Anti-Ligature Instructor training.
This accreditation allows BRS to integrate anti-ligature awareness and intervention principles into our wider safety training programmes. It’s a crucial area of safeguarding, especially in healthcare, education, and custodial environments where risks need to be recognised and managed before they escalate.
At BR Specialists we’ll continue developing our training portfolio around the real needs of our clients and the sectors we support and are researching the possibility of launching an anti-ligature focused course.
The addition of anti-ligature knowledge is one step in a longer journey to provide courses that are not only compliant, but truly practical and meaningful for the people using them day to day.
“We put a lot of effort into equipping our trainers with the best knowledge, techniques, and delivery skills,” says Nick Attard, General Manager at BRS. “That investment translates directly into safer, more confident teams across the organisations we work with.”
Congratulations to Jake and Charlie on their hard work and ongoing commitment to keeping standards high.
